Guo Yuan:

Silver Award winner of the first Golden Key Picture Book Creation Competition in 2017. She is a freelance illustrator who has illustrated for many magazines, including Story Composition, Contemporary Elementary School Students, and Math King. Her published works include The Secret of Snoring and Mom's Bag. In addition to diligently drawing and designing, she is also keen on participating in the market and doing fun crafts, and is devoted to delivering dribs and drams of warmth and surprise to readers.

The Secret of Snoring is the first picture book I created. It tells the story of a little boy named Yangyang who is constantly woken up by strange sounds at night. He is very afraid. Then he got a "magic book" that revealed the secrets of those voices. After reading this book, readers will know that the "strange sound" is actually the snoring sound made by Yangyang's family.

This story comes from an experience I had on a long train. That day, I lay in the sleeper because of insomnia and myriad thoughts. In the middle of the night, the noise of snoring in the carriage reminded me of the snoring of my family. The train clanged like it took me back to my childhood... At that time, I was always woken up in the middle of the night by my father's snoring thunder, and I was too scared to sleep. Later, when I went to my grandparents' house during the summer vacation, I found that they snored too, and out of curiosity, I tried to sneak up to see how the sounds were made. A little older, I accidentally found that when my mother was tired and lying on the sofa, she would snore, and sometimes she would talk in her sleep, and I always wondered if she was dreaming of something delicious...

When I was young, I would complain about my family's snoring and wish I would never hear it again. But now, when I'm away from home, I miss the sound of my family snoring and being around them. What used to be common, even boring, is now so difficult to see and hear. How I wish I could grow up slower!

I would like to dedicate this book to my family for the love they have always given me! I hope every child will cherish the time with their family.
