This novel revolves around the Korean conflict. It is about two twins who were separated at the age of five on the day the armistice was signed and the iron curtain descended determining the border between the North and South Korea at the 38th parallel. Although they lived in adjascent border cities, one in Kaesong in North Korea and the other in Incheon in South Korea, they were never to meet until old age.

The twins grew up and raised their families within the two opposing political and economic ideologies. It is their children who are to be the main characters in this novel. The unfolding of events based on the different doctrines brought them to various settings besides Incheon and Kaesong; they include Glasgow, Zurich, and lastly Kuala Lumpur.

This is a historical based novel that portrays events related to the tragedy that emerged from the opposing policies of the two Korean countries. Weaved between the events were those related to a forbidden love with events related to the classical music performed in well known orchestras in several cities around the world including Kuala Lumpur.
