Interested in the local wisdom of the Malay community when it comes to treating illnesses? This book delves into the medical methods practiced by Malays to treat worm infections. The Malay society holds a high level of social integrity within their environment. They are knowledgeable about local spices, herbs and their benefits and appropriate methods of consumption. Hence, various measurements, such as a handful or a pinch, are found to be used by the Malays. They also identify specific parts of plants with medicinal benefits, whether it be the leaves, stems, fruits, bark, roots or flowers. Moreover, they are aware of the nutritional and economic value of each type of plant that can be used as fragrances and basic cosmetic ingredients. This book comprehensively discusses 25 treatment methods for worm infections found in seven Malay medical manuscripts housed in the National Library of Malaysia (PNM) and the Leiden University Library, Netherlands. In summary, Malays possess their unique medical tradition born out of their culture and interaction with their surroundings.
