Synopsis of Stay Close to Me Stay Close to Me is a dark psychological fiction novel that follows the twisted, intersecting lives of Sebastian Vale and Melisa Hardvort.
Sebastian is a wealthy, deeply traumatized 28-year-old who recently escaped from an asylum.
Diagnosed with antisocial, obsessive, and sadistic personality disorders, his life is consumed by a dark fixation on Melisa.
His obsession began three years prior when Melisa showed him unexpected kindness during a chance encounter in the rain—an act that shattered something inside him.
Since then, Sebastian has stalked her, even brutally murdering five men who assaulted Melisa at her fast-food job to "protect" what he considers his property.
Melisa is an impoverished 24-year-old student juggling work and school while caring for her sick grandmother.
Her world shatters completely when she is tragically assaulted at work, and shortly after, finds her grandmother murdered in their home.
Left entirely alone and drowning in grief, Melisa begins noticing strange occurrences, such as her house being meticulously cleaned and her fridge stocked by an unknown presence.
Eventually, Sebastian takes extreme measures to ensure
...Melisa can never leave him; he drugs and kidnaps her, trapping her inside his heavily guarded mansion and basement.
When Melisa attempts a desperate, bloody escape through a window, Sebastian tracks her down through the woods, dragging her back and physically punishing her.
After she collapses from severe blood loss, Sebastian uses his alternate, unmasked persona as a gentle caregiver named "Sebastian" to manipulate her.
Not realizing he is the masked monster who imprisoned and abused her, Melisa begins to let her guard down, slowly placing her trust in him as he secretly vows to keep her dependent and captive forever.
