The Chommanard Women’s Literary Award recognizes outstanding female authors from ASEAN countries, China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. It emphasizes literary quality, cultural significance, and social impact. The award is supported by Bangkok Bank.

  • Grand Prize: THB 500,000 (approx. USD 15,000) for the best overall female author among all submissions.
  • Country Winner Awards: THB 40,000 (approx. USD 1,200) for one shortlisted author per eligible country, if the work meets the required standard.

Winners may have the opportunity to translate their work into Thai, subject to contractual agreements and copyright terms. Authors must inform the committee in advance if the work is already planned for Thai publication. Translation requires a formal agreement between the author and the publisher.

  • Female authors only.
  • Must hold citizenship or permanent residence in ASEAN countries, China, Hong Kong, or Taiwan.
  • The author must be alive throughout the judging process.

  • Must be a fictional work (novel).
  • Must be published in English between 2015–2025.
  • Must be an original work, not plagiarized or AI-generated, with a letter of authenticity.

  • Must be published by a reputable publisher in the Asia-Pacific region or an English-language country.
  • The publisher must provide an ISBN and distribute through official channels.
  • All rights remain with the author during the judging process.
  • If a translator is involved, the author is responsible for any issues regarding translation.

  • The committee’s decision is final and cannot be appealed.
  • The committee may not disclose individual identities but will provide general feedback on winning works for transparency.
