Hanaw: A Novel

The novel works with three timelines and three narratives set in Iligan City: the story of Geronimo, a young man from Spain who becomes a soldier during the Moro Wars of the 1750s, his descendant Josefina, who survives the harsh years of World War 2, and her grand niece Katrina, who faces challenges in the increasingly cosmopolitan world of the present where borders both physical and symbolic, natural and supernatural, become increasingly permeable.

The lives of these members of the Ballesteros de los Dolores family resonate with common experiences of love and war, of loss and recovery.
